FULL NAME: Scott Christopher Riggan
HEIGHT:  6 ft 1 in
BIRTHPLACE:  Redding, CA
NICKNAMES:  None that I want to encourage.
FAMILY:  Wife (Julie) and 2 kids (Emily, 8 and Josiah, 4)
PETS:  1 dog, 1 cat, 3 goats and 1 horse. The other 5 horses don’t count because they belong to my father-in-law. Same with the cows. Coming soon: chickens (it’s like living in a Far Side cartoon . . .).

GLASS HALF-EMPTY OR HALF-FULL?  Half full. Oops, wait, empty now.
MOST FAMOUS PERSON YOU’VE MET:  Jimmy Stewart, although I didn’t actually meet him. I spoke to him on the phone, and I was kind of rude because I thought it was a prank call. (I’m so ashamed . . .).
APPENDIX OR TONSILS REMOVED?  Tonsils. 3rd grade. They never caught the guy that did it though.

MINISTRY PARTNER:  The JESUS Film Project. I went to Tanzania a couple of years ago and saw first hand what an amazing tool the film is for world evangelism. Click HERE to read all about it.
MISSION TRIPS:  In 2005 I did a concert tour of China (and returned in April 06 with a CD I produced of worship songs in Mandarin Chinese). I’ve also been to Tanzania, East Africa and Ghana, West Afric and to Mexico.

DREAM CAR:  One that runs forever, carries everything I need, has low gas mileage and never, ever breaks down. I don’t care what it looks like (if it was the Partridge Family Bus but it met the rest of the criteria, that’d be just fine . . .).
MOST ANNOYING HABIT:  Explaining things in great detail. Here, let me show you an outline of my perfectionist tendencies along with some charts and graphs I made . . .

ON YOUR CD PLAYER RIGHT NOW:  A philodendron. In my CD player (actually, make that my iPod): Derek Webb (Mockingbird); Mindy Smith (Long Island Shores); Switchfoot (Nothing Is Sound); U2 (Atomic Bomb); Andrew Peterson (A Far Country); Sufjan Stevens (Illinois); Shawn Colvin (These Four Walls); Aimee Mann (Forgotten Arm); Aqualung (Strange & Beautiful); Chris Tomlin (See The Morning)
CURRENTLY READING:  Searching For God Knows What by Donald Miller; Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott; If Only He Knew by Gary Smalley

WHAT WOULD PEOPLE BE SURPISED TO KNOW: Coffee beans are not really beans - they are fruit pits (really). What, did I misunderstand the question . . . ?
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE FUTURE?  Lunch. I would say dinner, but that’s more of a long-term goal.

Favorites:

SNACK:  Cheetos (puffs), ice cream, good coffee
DRINK:  I’m a pepper.
FOOD:  Vietnamese (or really good fettuccini alfredo, which, sadly, you can’t get at most Vietnamese restaurants).

MAGAZINES:  Performing Songwriter, Christian Musician, Paste, Worship Leader
TOOTHPASTE: Yes.
COLOGNE:  No thanks.

TOWN TO HANG:  Seattle, Nashville, Portland, OR or home (Boise, ID)
ICE CREAM:  I actually really like Vanilla (I’m sure that says something about what a dull person I am, but there it is). I also love any ice cream that has lots of chunks of stuff (peanut butter, chocolate, fudge, twigs, whatever). Ice cream is a substance I tend to abuse, so we don’t keep it in the house.

MOVIES:  Lord of the Rings trilogy, Signs, A Mighty Wind, Shadowlands, Deep Impact, The Princess Bride and the original Star Wars films
BOOKS:  Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott; Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning; To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee; Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer; The Sacred Journey by Frederich Beuchner
PASSTIME:  Playing with my kids, reading, piano, and racquetball.
VERSE:  Philippians chapter 3.

CDS:  Rich Mullins (A Liturgy, a Legacy and a Ragamuffin Band); Patti Griffin (1000 Kisses); City On A Hill series; Jonatha Brooke (Steady Pull); Switchfoot (Beautiful Letdown); The Thorns (The Thorns); Derek Webb (She Must & Shall Go Free)
